WE ARE ON OUR WAY

Forming an Australian transfusion society is the single agenda item at an historic, weekend meeting in Sydney. Time & technology had advanced since establishment of Australia’s first blood bank in 1929. Convened & chaired by Dr Bob Walsh at the Australian Red Cross Society, two key decisions are: 1. Forming an ASBT organising committee & drafting a constitution. 2. Extending an invitation from the ASBT to ISBT to host its 11th 1996 Congress in Sydney. Drs Peter Brain, Peter Booth, DP Churton, H Lewis, Jack Morris, Eric Shaw, T Keen, Edgar Thomson & Gordon Archer are present.

The Australian & New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion (ANZSBT) aims to engage with stakeholders in all areas of transfusion through communication, representation and advocacy.
