An NBA steering group on Blood Component Usage with two ANZSBT members, works on novel guidelines to better reflect clinical scenarios rather than focusing only on blood components. Driven by evolving clinical needs & legislative requirements, draft standards for Hospital Based Manufacture of Blood Components is a focus. Children’s understanding of & consent for transfusion is a new area; novel educational materials include a Parent’s Guide & children’s booklets (one a comic book). NPAAC releases our Pre-Transfusion Guidelines as standards titled ” Pre-Transfusion Laboratory Practice”.
