1950 Walter & Murphy introduce plastic bags for blood storage.

1950 Race & Sanger’s 1^st edition of Blood Groups in Man published.

1950 Diamond et al report exchange transfusion for Erythroblastosis Fetalis.

1951 1^st edition Mollison’s Blood Transfusion in Clinical Medicine published.

1952 Allan Walker MD ‘Clinical Problems of War’ published, in which there is a remarkable & detailed chapter (34) on blood transfusion.

1952 NSW Blood Bank moves to York St, Church Hill (formerly Petty’s Hotel); originally John Dunmore Lang’s home in the 1840’s.

1953 Walsh publishes one of earliest articles on preparation & use of red cell concentrates.

The Australian & New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion (ANZSBT) aims to engage with stakeholders in all areas of transfusion through communication, representation and advocacy.
